Senator Ryan Opens Nominations for 21st Annual Veterans Hall of Fame
February 19, 2026
Nominations due March 20
Sen. Christopher J. Ryan announced today that his office has opened nominations for the New York State Senate’s Veterans Hall of Fame. This program aims to honor and recognize outstanding veterans from New York State who have distinguished themselves both in military and civilian life.
"We owe an enduring debt of gratitude to the men and women who have served in our armed forces and defended our freedoms. The Veterans Hall of Fame recognizes the extraordinary contributions of New York’s veterans, both in uniform and at home,” said Sen. Ryan. “Our veterans represent the very best of New York—selfless service, integrity, and dedication to others. I encourage everyone to take a moment to nominate a deserving veteran and help us give them the recognition they truly deserve."
Sen. Ryan’s office is accepting nomination letters until Friday, March 20. Nominees must live in District 50, which includes part of Onondaga and Oswego counties. Nomination letters should have a short biography that highlights the nominee’s military service, civilian service awards, and civilian achievements. Nominations should be emailed to Communications Manager Jared Petrosky at petrosky@nysenate.gov. The inductees from each district will be honored during a ceremony in the State Capitol on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
The New York State Senate has been honoring veterans with its Veterans Hall of Fame since 2005. Every year, each state senator inducts a veteran into the hall of fame in a ceremony within their district. The inductees are also honored at ceremonies in Albany throughout the year on dates that coincide with veterans-related observances.
All Veterans Hall of Fame members can be found on the New York State Senate’s website.
