Senator Cooney Reacts to Avelo Ending Deportation Flights for ICE

“Avelo Airlines’ decision to cease deportation flights on behalf of ICE marks the end of an error,” said Senator Jeremy Cooney. “ICE’s witch hunts have been blatant attempts to sow fear and discord, terrorizing communities across New York and throughout the nation. I have heard directly from local residents that this was a priority and that’s why I have been a proud cosponsor of bills like the SAFE AIR act to make clear that in New York we will not sit idly by and allow these witch hunts to occur. I want to thank my colleague, Senator Pat Fahy, for her leadership on this issue and for immigration justice overall, and it’s my hope that this decision by Avelo marks a continued rejection of this administration’s heartless and ruthless policies.”
