New York, NY – Today, Senator Julia Salazar joined New Yorkers at the Governor's Manhattan office, calling on her to tax the rich. Those who joined included Senator Jabari Brisport and New Yorkers about to lose their lifesaving health care due to Trump’s cuts. Taxing the rich would ensure critical services, including healthcare, remain funded. Senator Salazar was not arrested, but dozens of those who peacefully protested were.
State Senator Julia Salazar released the following in response:
“New Yorkers are struggling. Generations of residents are being priced out, families are living paycheck to paycheck, and now, too many are about to lose lifesaving healthcare - all while the wealthy get wealthier. It is time to tax the rich and ensure New Yorkers can afford to live dignified lives.”
