Senator Lea Webb Hosts Community Health Resource Fairs Across the Southern Tier
September 4, 2026
SOUTHERN TIER, NY - Senator Lea Webb hosted Community Health Resource Fairs across Senate District 52. The purpose of these fairs is to bring community health organizations together to provide resources for constituents.
“Accessible healthcare is essential to community well being. I believe that healthcare is a human right, and we have many organizations across Senate District 52 that assist residents in accessing healthcare and provide resources in this space,” said Senator Lea Webb. “It’s important to me to do everything I can to make healthcare more approachable and accessible for my constituents, and sometimes the hardest part of that is just knowing what is available and how to access it. These health fairs bring different organizations to the same place and make it easier for people to get the care they need and deserve.”
“Health fairs are an important way to connect people with information, resources, and services they may not otherwise know are available,” said Felicity Gomer of Family Planning of South Central New York. “At Family Planning of South Central New York, we’re proud to be part of these events because they give us the opportunity to answer questions, share medically accurate information, and help community members access the care they need. Sometimes a simple conversation at a health fair can be the first step toward someone getting care they’ve been putting off.”
Said Kate O’Brien of Family Health Network “We were excited to participate in Senator Webb’s Health Fair and connect with members of the community. FHN is committed to improving access to quality, comprehensive healthcare, and this event provided a wonderful opportunity to share information about the services and resources available through our health centers. We met constituents, answered questions about our programs, and provided educational materials and giveaways that promote health and wellness.”
Tompkins County Whole Health (TCWH) Commissioner Jennie Sutcliffe stated, “TCWH was proud to join with Senator Webb’s office and our health-focused community partner organizations at this event. Ensuring residents are aware of—and have ways of accessing—a variety of health resources is essential to our community’s health and well-being. Senator Webb’s resource fairs align with our mission to build a healthy, equitable community.”
Community Health Resource Fairs were held in Broome, Cortland, and Tompkins Counties and featured over 50 local organizations that provide direct services and resources to residents across the Southern Tier.
