Residents of the Fourth Senatorial District benefited from more than $112 million in state aid during 2025, according to an analysis by New York State Sen. Monica R. Martinez of grant award announcements. The review showed funding supported programs focused on public safety, transportation, economic development, housing and the environment. This is in addition to the record commitment made in this year’s budget to Foundation Aid supporting public schools, including an average 7.6% increase for districts within the Fourth Senatorial District, as well as other programs, grants and aid not part of a specific award announcement.
“2025 was a great year for state aid to the communities I serve and for the residents of Suffolk County,” said Sen. Martinez. “As we head into another year and a new budget cycle, I will continue to advocate for the continued support from New York State to reduce crime, drive economic growth and enhance quality of life for the residents of our district. I look forward to working with the governor and my colleagues in the legislature during 2026 to bring even more aid to our region.”
Among the top projects to be funded were:
- $30 million to support a Long Island Regional Commercialization Corridor for the development and market readiness of hard-tech industries, including advanced materials, aerospace and defense manufacturing, and energy systems.
- $15 million to construct One Carleton Green, a 70-unit affordable housing development in Central Islip that includes 14 apartments with supportive services for homeless veterans.
- $600,000 for the design of the Long Island Greenbelt, a multi-use trail that will eventually link Manhattan to Montauk and run through the heart of the district.
Other organizations that received state funding in 2025 include Pronto of Long Island, the Suffolk County Police Department and Adventureland.
