ROTTERDAM, N.Y. – Senator Patricia Fahy announced that $50,000 in capital funds were secured through her office for Rotterdam-Carman Little League (RC Little League). Formerly Rotterdam and Carman Little Leagues, the groups merged in 2014 to form RC Little League. Carman Little League dates back decades in the Capital Region and had a famous Little League World Series run in 1977. Just last year, the RC Little League 10U All-Star team took home 4th place at the 2025 New York State Little League 8-10-year-old Championship Tournament.
RC Little League serves young athletes in the Rotterdam community, working throughout the year to bring baseball to children and teach them the three ideals of Little League International: character, courage, and loyalty. Little League International is the world’s first and largest organized youth sports program to build strong individuals and communities. Both internationally and locally, Little League is made up of children from the community and adult volunteers to coach or serve on the local league’s Board of Directors.
Serving hundreds of children in the Rotterdam and Carman communities, RC Little League creates an active, healthy community. Adolescents who have regular physical activity are eight times as likely to be active at age 24 as adolescents who do not participate in sports, with three in four adults who play sports today having a history of playing as school-aged children. Aside from the physical benefits, organized team sports help improve cognitive skills for children like memory, focus, ability to adapt, and emotional control, benefiting them both on and off the field.
“I am thrilled to be able to support RC Little League’s continued impact on our community with this $50,000 grant,” said Senator Patricia Fahy (D–Rotterdam). “RC Little League is teaching the next generation invaluable skills – teamwork, leadership, inclusion, and community – that they will take with them into school and beyond. My work as a State Senator is heavily rooted in what’s best for the next generation, and there is no doubt that our children benefit greatly from learning to balance their teams, their families, and their communities, especially if they can have fun while doing it. I look forward to seeing RC Little League continue to grow and strongly encourage both kids and adults to get involved in any way they can.”
