Senator Fahy Announces $80,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area for New Teen Center at the Albany Clubhouse

Newly refreshed Teen Center provides safe, inviting environment for teens, championing youth success and inviting more members

ALBANY, N.Y. – Senator Patricia Fahy announced that $80,000 in capital funds was secured through her office for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area (BGCCA). Since 1998, BGCCA (formerly Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany) has provided youth services including afterschool activities, summer camp, and teen programs. Their mission is to inspire and enable young people to realize their full potential and grow to become productive, caring, responsible citizens. Their work focuses on youth enrichment, academic success, character development, and healthy lifestyles.

BGCCA is home to the largest teen program in the Capital Region, hosting events at their Albany Clubhouse and other community spaces. Known as “The Club” to those who attend, the Clubhouse serves teens ages 13-19. They receive access to programs that lead them to academic success, support from caring mentors, healthy meals, and gain exposure to sports, technology, and the arts. Mentors and program leaders work to put the teens on a purposeful path with comprehensive social and emotional support, equipping them with the skills and resources needed for successful, healthy futures.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area have a registration form on their website for all of their programs, and they are always looking for volunteers. Volunteer opportunities include mentoring, tutoring, event assistance, and engaging in community projects. BGCCA accepts donations to continue providing local youth with mentors, meaningful programming, and exciting futures.

This investment will allow us to create additional space in our workforce development room and game room, reconfigure our building entry to improve safety and security, and address other critical facility needs. These improvements will create a safer, more welcoming, and more functional space where young people can learn, develop skills, build relationships, and thrive.
