SYRACUSE, NY - Senator Rachel May announced that the Greater Syracuse Land Bank has been awarded $15,730,000 to build 52 prefabricated homes in Syracuse. This funding comes from the Senate Majority’s $50 million investment in the FY 2026 Budget for MOVE-IN NY, helping more New Yorkers access affordable homeownership.
“New York’s housing crisis is making it harder for families to find safe, comfortable homes. That’s why the Senate Majority is working to make homeownership more attainable. The Greater Syracuse Land Bank is receiving more than $15 million to build dozens of affordable homes. As Syracuse grows, we need to ensure there’s housing for everyone,” said Senator Rachel May. Thank you to Governor Hochul and the Senate Majority for helping deliver high-quality homes for Central New Yorkers.”
The MOVE-IN NY program uses prefabricated construction to build starter homes faster and at lower cost than traditional methods. Homes are expected to be placed this summer and will be sold below construction cost to low- and moderate-income buyers.
