New York State Senate Minority Leader introduced a resolution on the senate floor today, honoring the 2025-2026 North Tonawanda Lady Jacks Basketball team in recognition of the team’s historic season.

The team is not only the first from North Tonawanda to bring home a state championship, but the first Section VI team to do so.

The Lady Jacks lost only three regular season games, and won the team’s first ever sectional championship. The Lady Jacks would go on to secure the first ever regional championship, and ultimately win the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class AA State tournament.

“I’m proud to represent a district and a city that produces champions like the North Tonawanda Lady Jacks and to introduce a resolution on the senate floor honoring an outstanding basketball team for a historic and inspirational season,”  said Senator Rob Ortt. “This was one of the best seasons in North Tonawanda sports history, and these young ladies showed what a team can do when talent meets toughness, when a team plays for each other, and how meaningful it is when a community gets behind its athletes.”

Senator Ortt met with the team after introducing the resolution to personally congratulate them on their legacy season, and meet with family and friends of the team as well.
