Senator Foley Secures Funding for Bayport Fire District

Senator Brian X. Foley (D – Blue Point) announced today that he has secured funding for the Bayport Fire District.

The $100,000 capital grant that Senator Foley provided, which will be administered through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), will be used to expand the district’s maintenance facility, specifically to add a six-post lift, which will cut down on the amount of time it takes for the mechanic to fix something, resulting in repairs costing about half as much as if it had been sent out to another shop. Another striking aspect of the mechanical services provided by the Bayport Fire District is that it also provides services to the Blue Point Fire District, the Great River Fire District and the Bayport/Blue Point School District under shared service agreements.

“The services being provided by the Bayport Fire District, particularly those provided under its shared service agreements with other districts, puts them ahead of the curve,” said Senator Foley. “It is always an honor to be able to provide assistance to community organizations that are making a difference for our residents. In this case, it is especially gratifying to be able to help a fire district that is not only protecting its own residents and minding taxpayer dollars within its own boundaries, but is also helping taxpayers in neighboring districts save money.”

“We are very appreciative of the help Senator Foley has been able to provide to our fire district,” said Commissioner Paul McFadden. “But with this grant, he is not only helping the Bayport Fire District; he is also helping the Blue Point Fire District, the Great River Fire District and the Bayport/Blue Point School District. When we first approached Senator Foley about the potential for funding and explained to him the shared service agreements we operate under, he said would do what he could to help – and he has come through for us.”
