BILL NUMBER: S6694 SPONSOR: MANNION TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public service law, in relation to certain call centers PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The purpose of this bill is to require utilities to file annual affida- vits with the Public Service Commission affirming compliance with the provisions of Chapter 330 of the laws of 2010. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of this bill would require every public utility to provide an affidavit, annually, thatno call centers, or other facility providing customer assistance, have been closed without notice and hearing before the Public Service Commissionand that the utility has not relocated such customer assistance to another area of the State or outside State with- out notice and hearing before the commission.

MANNION -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Energy and Telecommuni- cations AN ACT to amend the public service law, in relation to certain call centers THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 13 of section 65 of the public service law is amended by adding a new subparagraph (d) to read as follows: (D) EVERY PUBLIC UTILITY UNDER THIS SUBDIVISION SHALL PROVIDE THE COMMISSIONER AN AFFIDAVIT, ANNUALLY, THAT NO CALL CENTERS OR OTHER FACILITIES PROVIDING CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE SET FORTH IN PARAGRAPH (A) OF THIS SUBDIVISION HAVE BEEN CLOSED WITHOUT NOTICE AND HEARING BEFORE THE COMMISSION AND THAT THE UTILITY HAS NOT RELOCATED SUCH CUSTOMER ASSIST- ANCE TO ANOTHER AREA OF NEW YORK STATE OR OUTSIDE OF NEW YORK STATE WITHOUT NOTICE AND HEARING BEFORE THE COMMISSION. THE AFFIDAVIT SHALL BE SUBMITTED IN SUCH FORM AND AT SUCH TIMES AND SHALL CONTAIN INFORMATION AS THE COMMISSIONER, BY RULE OR REGULATION, MAY PRESCRIBE. § 2.
