Bill passed that would dedicate portion of Route 21 in honor of fallen airman Kory Wade

MANCHESTER — A portion of Route 21 in this Ontario County town will be dedicated to a fallen airman, assuming Gov. Kathy Hochul signs legislation passed in the Assembly and Senate.
The bill was sponsored by Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan, R-131 of Manchester, and Sen. Pam Helming, R-54 of Canandaigua.
According to Gallahan, the bill would rename a portion of Route 21, from Route 96 to the intersection with Latting and Standpipe roads, in honor of Technical Sgt. Kory Wade, who died in a training exercise in 2023.
One of my greatest honors as a New York state senator is recognizing the courageous men and women who have served our nation with distinction in the United States Armed Forces,” Helming added. “U.S. Air Force TSgt. Wade is one of these distinguished individuals. He served this country with courage and unwavering patriotism. Dedicating a stretch of Route 21 in his name is a small but lasting tribute to a life of service and sacrifice. This dedication will allow Kory’s legacy to live on in the hearts of all who travel this road.
Wade, a native of Manchester, graduated from Red Jacket High School in 2008 and enlisted in the Air Force. He was assigned to the 48th Rescue Squadron as a medical logistics airman. He died on June 17, 2023, while conducting a training exercise.
