City's First New Mayor In Over Decade To Be Sworn In This Week In Westchester
White Plains Mayor-elect Justin Brasch will be sworn in during a public ceremony on Friday, Jan. 2, marking a leadership transition in the city for the first time in over a decade.
The ceremony will be held at the White Plains High School Auditorium, located at 550 North St., with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. and the swearing-in scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., according to event organizers. Attendees are instructed to enter through the door off the student parking lot closest to the auditorium.
Brasch will be joined at the ceremony by several high-profile officials, including New York State Sen. Shelley Mayer, Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins, US Rep. George Latimer, and New York State Attorney General Letitia James.
As previously reported by Daily Voice, Brasch won the November election with 69 percent of the vote, defeating Republican challenger Lenny Lolis.
He succeeds Mayor Thomas Roach, who has held the office since 2011 and did not seek reelection, instead running for Westchester County clerk.
Before his election as mayor, Brasch served on the White Plains Common Council and has been involved with several local and regional boards and committees.
