State Senator Shelley B. Mayer partnered with Feeding Westchester for a food donation drive. The drive was held in November with three drop-off locations throughout Senate District 37 including: Tuckahoe Village Hall, Pound Ridge Town House, and Senator Mayer’s District Office in White Plains.

Among the items donated included non-perishable items such as brown and white rice, whole-grain pasta, shelf-stable milk, canned meat, canned fish, canned vegetables, peanut butter, whole-grain cereal, canned and dried fruit, and canned meals.

Thanks to the contributions of community members, a total of 369 pounds of food was donated, which is equivalent to 308 meals that will go to neighbors in need, including families that lost their homes due to the recent fires in Mt. Vernon.

Senator Shelley B. Mayer said, “I am deeply grateful for the generosity of our neighbors who come together, time and again, to support those in need. As many families face growing challenges due to recent federal cuts, more of our neighbors need support. Feeding Westchester does indispensable work ensuring every member of our community has access to nutritious food. But with this increasing need, it is more important than ever that we stand firmly with our neighbors and ensure they have the support and resources they deserve.

“Thank you to the Village of Tuckahoe and the Town of Pound Ridge for opening your doors as donation locations and thank you to every resident who donated and to the dedicated team at Feeding Westchester for your unwavering commitment to our community.”

Tami Wilson, Chief Operating Officer of Feeding Westchester, said, “This season of giving carries a deeper weight as so many of our neighbors are still trying to regain stability after the government shutdown and delayed SNAP payments, all while facing the strain of a rising cost of living. And yet, in the midst of these challenges, our community continues to show strength, grace, and resilience. We are grateful to Senator Shelley Mayer for her continued efforts to inspire generosity among constituents in the 37th Senate District and beyond.”
