Statement on Medical Marijuana

I believe individuals suffering from serious illnesses should have access to the medically necessary treatments that would help them cope with their situation. The approval of medical marijuana will help New Yorkers, who currently experience debilitating illnesses and endure great pain and suffering, will have the opportunity to seek relief as prescribed by authorized medical professionals. I supported this bill and its safeguards that will ensure that the medical marijuana program cannot be abused.

The inspiration for my support of medical marijuana comes from all the cancer survivors and those suffering through treatments for various illnesses. I am hopeful that in the near future, their days are more pain free because of my vote.
