Harckham Pays a Visit to See New Somers Police Car Funded through a State Grant
August 3, 2021
Somers, NY – New York State Senator Pete Harckham stopped by the Somers Police Department today to see the new police car recently purchased through a state grant that he arranged.
In 2019, Harckham announced over $500,000 in law enforcement and public safety grant funding in the Senate District 40, of which the Somers Police Department received $56,000 for the police car and two special stop signs.
The new Somers police car is a Ford SUV hybrid—friendly to the environment and low on gas consumption, friendly on police budgets.
The awarded grant funding was secured within the State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM), which is among the grant programs administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) to support community and economic development.
