Senator Roxanne J. Persaud Wins National Foundation for Women Legislators Period Poverty Contest

Senator Roxanne J. Persaud is proud to announce that she is the recipient of a $1,000 donation of period products on behalf of Expecting Relief. She was chosen as part of a contest hosted by The National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) in their partnership with Kimberly-Clark, who will be providing the donations directly.

The contest aimed to raise awareness about period poverty and to support innovative solutions to address this issue, and Senator Roxanne J. Persaud is dedicated to having an impact on this issue. 

Senator Roxanne J. Persaud looks forward to being featured on NFWL’s social media channels throughout the month of May leading up to Period Poverty Awareness Week, May 20-28, 2024, bringing light to an issue that effects so many. 

“Period poverty is still an issue that affects millions of individuals worldwide, including right here in our own communities,” said Senator Roxanne J. Persaud. “I will continue to take action and raise awareness about the challenges faced by those who lack access to menstrual products and suffer the consequences of period inequality.”

Period poverty is a widespread issue that affects millions of individuals in the United States. Lack of access to menstrual products and hygiene education can lead to missed school and work, social isolation, and other adverse outcomes. NFWL and Senator Roxanne J.
