(New Rochelle, NY) – State Senators Shelley Mayer and Nathalia Fernandez, Assembly Members Amy Paulin and Steve Otis, County Legislator Terry Clements, New Rochelle Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert, New Rochelle City Council Member Martha Lopez-Hanratty, and the Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle hosted a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at the Mascaro Boys and Girls Club on Saturday, October 4.

The celebration featured crafts, local food vendors, and a children’s soccer clinic – led by the Boys and Girls Club in partnership with the New Rochelle High School Boys Varsity Soccer Team.

Becky Mazzanobile, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle, said, “The Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle was proud to participate in New Rochelle’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, including hosting inspiring family-oriented events that included arts and crafts in addition to a soccer clinic for children. Hispanic Heritage Month provides a dynamic opportunity to recognize the contributions of our community members and celebrate their cultural identity, all while fortifying inclusion and strengthening unity and understanding. Our Club takes deep pride in shaping our youths’ great futures through academic support, achievement-driven programming, and supporting mental wellness, fitness, leadership, and civics.”

State Senator Shelley B. Mayer said, “I am so pleased to come together with elected officials in New Rochelle and community organizations to host a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. This year, as we navigate challenging times, it is more important than ever to remember the support we have around us and to celebrate our cultures and differences. Thank you to my cohosts — Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, Senator Nathalia Fernandez, Assemblyman Steve Otis, Assemblywoman Amy R. Paulin, County Legislator Terry Clements, New Rochelle Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert, and Councilwoman Martha Lopez – for your partnership and efforts.”

State Senator Nathalia Fernandez said, “Events like this are a shining example of what makes New Rochelle so special. The Mascaro Clubhouse sits in a neighborhood that brings together so many Hispanic cultures, and it is through the New Rochelle Boys and Girls Club that we come together time and again to celebrate and share our heritage.”

Assembly Member Amy Paulin said, “As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor the culture and contributions of the Hispanic and Latino community here in New Rochelle and across New York State. Our diversity is our strength, and I’m grateful to the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle for hosting this celebration and for their work to support and inspire our youth. I’m proud to join my colleagues and community partners in celebrating together and building an inclusive future for all.”

Assemblyman Steve Otis said, “Of the many Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations, the Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle event at the Mascaro Clubhouse was one of the highlights.  The soccer clinic, vendors, food, and activities for kids made it a great celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and of the importance of creating engaging programs for New Rochelle families.”

County Legislator Terry Clements said, “The Mascaro Clubhouse is at the center of a vibrant community where diverse Hispanic cultures come together, and thanks to the Boys and Girls Club, we celebrate that unity and pride year after year.”

New Rochelle Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert said, “New Rochelle’s story is one of cultures coming together to create something stronger and more vibrant. Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month alongside the Boys & Girls Club is a reminder that when we invest in our young people and uplift every community, we honor the values that make our city so special.”

New Rochelle City Council Member Martha Lopez-Hanratty said, “The Hispanic Heritage Month event at the Boys and Girls Club was a moment to shine a spotlight on the hard work of our Hispanic community members who keep our City moving. This celebration is about lifting up those contributions and committing to a future where every resident, regardless of background, can thrive.”
