
State Senator Shelley Mayer, Congressman George Latimer, and Feeding Westchester to Sound the Alarm on Immediate Harm of “OBBB” on Food Insecurity

PORT CHESTER , NY – Senator Shelley B. Mayer (SD-37), U.S. Congressman George Latimer (CD-16), Feeding Westchester, local elected officials, and community members will hold a press conference TOMORROW, Tuesday, August 19 at 9:30 a.m. The press conference will highlight the devastating impact of President Trump’s H.R. 1, the alleged “One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB)”, on food insecurity in New York.
According to the House Agriculture Committee, 42 million Americans rely on SNAP, including 74,000 people in New York's 16th District. H.R. 1's cut to SNAP benefits will affect millions of Americans, including at least 318,000 people in New York State. Such cuts will cause undue suffering for the most vulnerable New Yorkers stress on organizations, like Feeding Westchester.
