Senator Addabbo Inducts Local Veteran Dominick Pepe into the New York State Veterans Hall of Fame

Senator Addabbo congratulates Dominick Pepe for his induction into the NYS Veterans Hall of Fame.
Queens, NY (May 27, 2026) – New York State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. proudly announced the induction of local veteran Dominick Pepe into the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame, an honor established to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary achievements of New York’s veterans who have distinguished themselves both through military service to the nation and continued dedication to their communities.
“Dominick Pepe exemplifies the meaning of service, sacrifice, and commitment,” said Addabbo. “For three decades, he answered the call to serve our country across multiple branches and assignments, and today he continues that same dedication through his tireless work supporting veterans throughout the district and Queens. It is a privilege to recognize him as a member of the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame.”
Dominick Pepe began his military career as a cadet in the Sea Scouts, where he attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer, helping lay the foundation for his future military service.
In 1968, Mr. Pepe was drafted into the United States Army, completing Basic Training at Fort Jackson before attending Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon as a communications specialist, earning a 72B Military Occupational Specialty designation. Following his training, he was stationed overseas in Vicenza, Italy, serving with the Southern European Task Force (SETAF) command and the 560th Tactical Communication Company. During his deployment, he served in several key communications roles, ultimately becoming Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of the fixed communications center.
Following a break in service, Mr. Pepe joined the Air National Guard, serving five years in a communications unit based on Long Island. He later continued his military career with the Army National Guard as a Finance Specialist with the 42nd Finance Company before joining the Army Reserve as a combat arms instructor in New Jersey, where he trained recruits in weapons proficiency, first aid, map reading, and other essential military skills.
Mr. Pepe’s final military assignment was with the 72nd Regional Support Command stationed at Fort Totten, New York. During this assignment, he earned his 11B MOS designation and helped train military personnel in basic combat proficiencies at Fort Dix, New Jersey. After an impressive 30 years of military service, Mr. Pepe retired honorably from the United States Army with the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Throughout his distinguished military career, Mr. Pepe received numerous honors and commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Marksmanship Tab, Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, NCO Development Medal, Army Reserve Achievement Medal, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award.
Mr. Pepe remains deeply involved in supporting fellow veterans and his local community. He currently serves as the Post Adjutant and Membership Chairman for American Legion Woodhaven Post 118 in Queens. He also serves as the Queens County Adjutant and District 10 Chaplain, continuing his lifelong commitment to service.
