Brooklyn, NY – Senator Julia Salazar recently introduced the Residential Parking Permit System Act (S9884) to authorize New York City to provide parking permits for residents in designated neighborhoods of the city.
State Senator Julia Salazar released the following statement:
“Parking spots in Brooklyn should prioritize local residents, but unfortunately, the traffic congestion from non-residents has made it increasingly difficult for New Yorkers to access street parking, and has generated additional air pollution, noise, and accidents. The Residential Parking Permit System Act would protect residents in neighborhoods where parking has become limited and alleviate the city from the needless traffic congestion issues.”
The Residential Parking Permit System Act (S9884):
- Allow residents of designated neighborhoods to apply for parking permits on residential streets
- Prohibit drivers without a permit from parking on the designated streets
