(Binghamton, NY) – Today, Senator Webb announced $854,370 in funding for domestic violence prevention to organizations throughout Broome County. This funding is through the Statewide Targeted Reductions in Intimate Partner Violence (STRIVE) initiative, which doubles the number of participating police departments. This initiative is administered through the Department of Criminal Justice Services. These grants will fund personnel, training, and coordination among law enforcement and community-based service providers to significantly expand New York’s efforts to respond to and prevent domestic violence, hold individuals who cause harm accountable for their behavior, and improve services and better support survivors.
“Every survivor of domestic violence deserves to feel safe, supported, and heard,” said Senator Lea Webb. “These investments will strengthen the coordinated response to domestic violence across Senate District 52 by supporting the organizations, law enforcement agencies, and service providers working every day to protect survivors and prevent further harm. As Chair of the Senate Women’s Issues Committee, I remain committed to advancing policies and resources that help survivors access the support they need and build safer communities for women and families throughout our region.”
