New York State Senator Steve Rhoads teamed up with Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and the Nassau County Police Department for the Third Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at Wantagh Park Summer Camp, giving 400 local children a unique opportunity to meet the men and women who work every day to keep Nassau County safe.

The annual event connected campers with officers from a variety of specialized units within the Nassau County Police Department, providing an up-close look at the important work they perform to protect the community. Participating units included the K-9 Unit, Marine Bureau, Bureau of Special Operations, Emergency Services Unit, Mounted Unit, Motorcycle Platoon, and 7th Precinct patrol officers.

Throughout the day, officers demonstrated their specialized equipment, explained their day-to-day responsibilities, and answered questions from campers, helping to build positive relationships between law enforcement and the next generation.

"Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is a wonderful opportunity for our young people to meet the dedicated officers who serve and protect our neighborhoods every day," said Senator Steve Rhoads. "By giving children the chance to interact with these incredible men and women, we strengthen trust, foster understanding, and inspire respect for those who put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe. I am grateful to County Executive Bruce Blakeman and the Nassau County Police Department for making this meaningful event possible, and I thank every officer for their unwavering commitment to protecting Nassau County."

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day reflects Senator Rhoads' continued commitment to standing with those who protect our communities and recognizing the sacrifices made by the men and women who wear the badge. The event also highlights the importance of community engagement and providing young people with positive interactions with first responders.

Senator Rhoads extends his sincere appreciation to the Nassau County Police Department and all participating officers for taking the time to educate, inspire, and connect with local campers while demonstrating the professionalism and dedication that help make Nassau County the safest county in America.
