Senator Addabbo Hosts Bird Watching Tours With The Queens County Bird Club At Forest Park
October 9, 2025

Participants saw many different types of birds.
Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. partnered with the Queens County Bird Club and the Parks Department to host two bird walking tours in Forest Park for his constituents on October 4, 2025. Originally planned as one 60-minute walk, a second consecutive walk was added to accommodate the high demand for participation.
The walks were led by Ian Resnick, President of the Queens County Bird Club, along with two other club members – Akilah Lewis and Coco Huang. The participants saw many beautiful birds, along with chipmunks and squirrels. They also absorbed the rich green environment of the park and listened to the various birds chirping and other natural sounds.
Some of the birds seen on the walk were the Golden-crowned Kinglet, Ovenbird, Chimney Swift, American Robin, White-breasted nuthatch, Red-bellied woodpecker, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Blue Jay, a warbler, and sparrows.
“My office team and I work every day on serious issues, so it was a good, slight change of pace to sponsor an event that would bring some people enjoyment,” Addabbo said. “Forest Park is a natural treasure in our district, and these bird-watching tours are a chance for residents to connect with the environment, learn about local wildlife, and advocate for preserved green spaces for future generations. I would like to thank the Queens County Bird Club and the Parks Department for their support.”
