Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. collaborated with the City Parks Foundation to present a PuppetMobile performance of Pippi Longstocking at PS 174 in Rego Park on June 12, 2025.
The captivating 40-minute show drew an audience of over 300 students, along with parents, teachers, staff, and community members. This event commemorated the 80th anniversary of the beloved children’s book.
During the performance, Pippi is depicted as vibrant, playful, adventurous and fiercely independent as she makes new friends, stands up to bullies, attends school for the first time, and reunites with her pirate father.
The PuppetMobile is a mobile marionette theater featuring nearly two dozen intricately crafted puppets created by skilled artisans, bringing stories to life in an engaging and memorable way.
“Events like this ignite imagination and foster a love of storytelling among young audiences,” said Addabbo. “It’s inspiring to see children’s faces light up with joy and wonder, and I’m proud to bring such enriching experiences to our community. I would like to extend my thanks to the City Parks Foundation and PS 174 for making this event possible.”
