Senator Addabbo and Senator Persaud helped constituents shred their paper.
Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. joined his colleague in government Senator Roxanne J. Persaud in hosting a shredding event at the St. Helen’s Church parking lot in Howard Beach on August 29, 2026.
Residents lined up to shred their old personal documents in a safe, responsible way that protects them from potential identity theft and repurposes old paper.
Some 4,260 pounds of paper was shredded during the two-hour event. Residents showed up with bags, boxes, shopping carts and milk crates full of paper.
Some constituents looked through the truck’s interior camera window to view the paper being pulverized into confetti.
"I'm grateful for the overwhelming support of our community in prioritizing safety and environmental responsibility through this shredding event,” Senator Addabbo said. “A special thank you to Senator Persaud for co-sponsoring this impactful initiative, and St. Helen’s Church for generously providing their space. Together, we're making a difference—protecting our families and our environment."
"I'm proud to join my colleague in bringing this shredding event to the community,” Senator Persaud said. “It’s a simple way to protect personal information and support a cleaner, greener environment."
