April 17, 2026
More than 100 people took advantage of the event.
Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. hosted his free bi-annual spring paper shredding and veteran household goods collection event at Forest Park on April 12, 2026.
More than 120 people attended the drive-through style event to get rid of unwanted sensitive documents and donate gently used items to veterans.
While some constituents did a drop and go, others stayed to watch their paper being hoisted into the shredding truck and pulverized into confetti as it passed through interlocking metal teeth.
“This is a great way to kick off spring cleaning, giving constituents a great way to organize and refresh their living space,” Addabbo said. “I am also always very grateful for the generosity of the attendees who donate items to the veterans.”
At the conclusion of the event, 2,700 pounds of paper had been shredded, and 2,589 pounds of household goods were donated to the United War Veterans Council.
Senator Addabbo would like to thank the Parks Department and the United War Veterans Council for their support as well as G-COP for directing traffic.
Senator Addabbo will be hosting his Fall paper shredding event on September 27, 2026.
