Senator Steve Rhoads Hosts 3rd Annual Veterans Appreciation Breakfast and Resource Fair

More than 200 veterans and their family members gathered for a morning of appreciation, camaraderie, entertainment, and access to valuable community resources

New York State Senator Steve Rhoads hosted his 3rd Annual Veterans Appreciation Breakfast and Resource Fair on Saturday, October 17, at the Museum of American Armor in Old Bethpage, welcoming more than 200 veterans and their family members for a morning dedicated to honoring their service and sacrifice. Also in attendance were Legislator Tom McKevitt and Assemblyman John Mikulin.

The annual event brought together veterans, families, community organizations, and local partners to recognize the men and women who have served our nation and connect them with valuable resources and support services. Nearly a dozen resource tables were available, providing attendees with information and assistance on a range of veterans’ services and community programs. Participating organizations included the Long Island State Veterans Home, Catholic Health, which offered flu shots, the Nassau County Police Department, and Paws of War, among others.

“Those who have worn our nation’s uniform have made extraordinary sacrifices to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day,” said Senator Steve Rhoads. “We can never fully repay our veterans for their service, but we can make sure they know that their sacrifices are remembered and appreciated. It was an honor to welcome more than 200 veterans and their families to this year’s breakfast and connect them with organizations that provide meaningful support to our veteran community.”

The incredible setting of the Museum of American Armor provided a truly unique backdrop for the event, with historic tanks, military vehicles, and artifacts on display, bringing history to life and creating a memorable experience for veterans and their families. Adding to the excitement, the Band of Veterans and Friends, a talented group of veteran musicians, filled the museum with energetic music that had attendees dancing and celebrating together. The combination of the museum’s remarkable exhibits, lively entertainment, and shared camaraderie made for an unforgettable morning honoring those who served our nation.

Senator Rhoads extended special thanks to the Museum of American Armor team for hosting the event and helping make the morning such a success. He also expressed his appreciation to Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, the Band of Veterans and Friends, Civil Air Patrol, Boy Scout Troop 192 of Bellmore, and Project Thank a Cop for their participation and support. Additional thanks went to Embassy Diner, Town Bagel of Plainview, Crumbl Cookies of Merrick, Duck Donuts of East Meadow, and Dunkin’ Donuts for their support, which helped make the event a memorable experience for veterans and their families.

“Events like this remind us that honoring our veterans is about more than one day on the calendar. It is about showing up, building relationships, and making sure those who served our country continue to feel supported by their community,” Senator Rhoads added. “Thank you to all our volunteers, participating organizations, and community partners who gave their time and talents to recognize our veterans. Most importantly, thank you to our veterans and their families for all they have given in service to our country.”

Senator Rhoads remains committed to supporting veterans throughout New York State and ensuring they have access to the recognition, services, and resources they have earned through their service.
